If two people love each other they can spend a lifetime just continually exploring the wonders of the changing person they have in front of them.
They will be interested in what each other does and want to know how the other has spent their time and what interested them during the day.
I have two friends who have been married for 50 years. If they are separated and meet at a gathering, one of the first things that they'll do is go and have a chat by themselves, just to catch up.
People ask why? They say why wouldn't I want to find out what the most important person in my world has been doing?

It is having a person who is committed to you, to your marriage, and to helping one evolve into the best person one can be. It is learning about life. About each other. About having someone to back you up and to help you grow. Love is the greatest force on earth. If you find someone to journey with you, and you both work on it, you have the best life. Otherwise, you journey alone. That is also a valid option.
Yes... A marriage will fail if the couple doesn't have goals that closely align that they can support each other with.
Often, children can be there glue that binds a relationship together - but, what when the children are older and have flown the nest???

@HootyTheNightOwl So, what do you think is a good purpose for a marriage, aside from just loving each other? Like, what kind of goals or values do you think should guide a relationship?

@HootyTheNightOwl @icedeathshogun Goals don't have to closely align. As long as it isn't something major, like one person needs to move to another country and the one needs to stay where they are. But generally speaking, goals have little importance. Love is what matters the most and when you really love someone, you're going to support them.

It's a partnership. You are there for each other no matter what happens.
Usually people with common objectives last longer together than those who don't

Patience, compromise, willingness to put someone else before you,but also ultimate trust and loyalty to each other too

@HotPizza71 what do you think about goals/objectives/visions? i mean, like... something measurable to achieve? is it necessary to have it as a married couple?
HotPizza71 · 51-55, M
@icedeathshogun common ground for sure is what's needed when together, building a future with goals, visions change overtime,do doing these together, makes the journey interesting

More like a shared purpose
