I never used one, for the reason you describe. Why would a woman respond positively to what she knew was a "set" line that I might have used on anyone?
Although, one time, after I was married, I was in a motel lobby, and a bachelorette party was going on. Women had paired up on a "scavenger hunt", and one thing they were searching for was pickup lines. So two women came up to me and asked me what pickup lines I had.
I told them, "I'm kind of a nerd, so I don't have any pickup lines." They stared at each other, and one said, "What a great pickup line!"
I've never used one except as a joke, but I've known soem men who do use them knowing (or at least thinking) that if they use them enough, someone would fall for it.
@CookieCrumbs I've shot one or two of them out just as a joke (knew the woman) and they nearly died laughing! I just can't imagine using one - feels so insulting to the woman.
@CookieCrumbs actually, at least from my perspective, 99.99% of them fall into that category. I'm always thinking exactly that... "really? That's all you can come up with?" totally agree with you. A guy would be better off to just keep his mouth shut and work on a bit of sincerity... or just say nothing at all.
I could never pull off a pick up line. Always felt ridiculous and artificial. Making eye contact and then going over and just starting a conversation with hello. If that doesn't work than she wasn't my type anyway. I have never been a pick up artist. With enough eye contact and a few smiles more often then not we would gravitate toward each other over the course of the evening if she was interested.
I never have. My wife used to be hit on by men when she was out alone or with her office group. She tried to be nice in rejecting them, but she tried to remember the best lines to tell me when she got home. None of them worked.
Some men still use pickup lines, and I don't think that's going to change any time soon.

@DragonFruit I thought men were supposed to be all about getting straight to the point and not beating around the bush....if your intent is to ask a woman out, I would say just do it. Its better to just be yourself than to use a cringey opening line.
They are still and it gets norm here. It's getting annoyed actually but the ladies like that. Idk why. 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️

@iamelijah I guess I'm in the minority of women that don't like them. Men are genuinely funny when they are just being themselves, trying to be slick or cool with a pick up line is not funny.
@SW-User That might actually be worse. It opens up the door to a flood of messages that are just "Hey" or "Hi". What am I supposed to do with that? Lol
Better than simping even if some of them are cringy. Why don't women try harder? I don't hear any guys saying why do women think being dressed up for a substitute to having a personality? Or why do women just expect everything to come to them? And I mean when have you seen a single woman just be herself? Not one that is popular among other women lol.
theres only a few that still work...... would you help me spend all this money...... would you like to go on a boat ride...... can you help me lift my 12 inch cock...... most of the other ones are instant failure. LOL
@TheWhippersnapper Oh okay. I was wrong about what I saw then. thanks for putting me right on that. Thanks also for telling me what I'm talking about. Because I didn't know my own thoughts there and needed someone else who doesn't to clarify them for me, Much appreciated! ✌️
@SW-User I'm just saying I've never seen a guy say "Hey babe I have a dead aunt and a movie ticket with your name on it 😏"
That sounded more like the sympathy card which is "My aunt just passed away, I just feel so alone 😭"

@TheWhippersnapper Okay well to each their own. No harm then. to me they are ultimately the same thing...just you see you've been around long enough you will sadly probably see that too.
