Why do people get married? Why should people get married?
To us it seems to have no purpose or reason to exist since it doesn't do anything.

Some people care to formalize their social status, and celebrate it.
Some find it more convenient, to take advantage of what the law allows by default, as opposed to hiring attorneys to create a set of legally binding agreements.
