How different are things for a married couple that's never had kids?

I was married to my ex husband for 14 years .. we didn’t want kids… he was an artist and we were amongst other married artist friends with no kids … so, you can imagine how things were different… we could attend any parties that we were invited to, we travelled whenever we could, galleries, exhibitions, and…. But… whenever we saw a smiling couple with kids, we sighed, we gazed, and we smiled… then we told each other how grateful we were that we didn’t have any kids…. Lol

I get your reason @Soossie
Some people would call that selfish.
I just call it a personal choice, no judgement.
I chose to have children, 2, and would never change that for the world.
@Teslin

That must be the most beautiful experience … God bless everyone’s kids… but the good thing for us was that we could never miss what we never had…

Yes, it was, and still is wonderful @Soossie

I can only comment on the side of having kids. We saw our childless friends do things we could not. But I wouldn’t trade it. Especially now when any one of my four grandchildren can brighten my entire week in 2 seconds.

This might sound mean, but I’m a single mom (one kid) who had coupled friends with no kids. Sure they have more money, more time, like I get why people choose not to have kids, but also, kids help you grow in ways only kids and heavy responsibility can. They complain more about things they could change but won’t. They can’t handle many inconveniences. And the reason I stopped hanging around childless people, they treat your kid like shit.

Like I said, people don’t want kids, cool, but being a dick to kids, what an evolutionary setback.

We could do whatever we wanted to on a whim and we had a lot more money.

We are able to save more money and have lots more time to ourselves.
After the miscarriage, my "boyfriend" went home for Christmas the day I graduated from teachers college, and never acknowledged that I was being ditched.
My married, no kids friend got diamonds that year in her stocking.

I didn't want to have kids when we got married; now my life pretty much revolves around them. So I would say very different.

@ServantOfTheGoddess The idea is very unappealing to me, time I spent watching my siblings annoyed me too much.

@Slade is that a thing?

@WendyLopez43 it certainly is...not always by design.

Always a go to in guy's locker rooms. Though, surprisingly I've always been good at that banter🤔
