Nope, that's just the situation we had until a few decades ago. Forcing people into relationship that don't work hasn't benefited humanity in any way.

Long term relationships are based on things like acceptance and understanding. The ease with which divorce and separation are obtained coupled with the lessening of stigma of being a divorced person has done great harm to marriage and the family.
yes they would work through their problems instead of running away like children. peeple should get married for love not cuz of how big their boobs or dicks are

@SmileOnYourBrother Love falters and fails sometimes. It isn't just about the sex.
Ah, I see what's happening here... you only care about the replies that agree with you - my bad...
Murders would be up, given the numbers of us stuck with abusers and unable to escape.
The Catholic Church doesn't acknowledge divorce and people feel like they have to choose between their faith and their life in some cases.
Admittedly, the anullment process is there - but that feels scary and intimidating when you know that you have no one who is prepared to go in there and be your witness.

Nope. They would simply stay married and then move out

Well I don't think you have to live together to still be married and still be friends. My parents have shown that, and also hooked up with other people while married and been strictly friends. It's not dysfunctional, that's just life.

Mostly would be bad because no hope to separate.. Ever. Like a life prison.
But I guess in some cases, it'll make people try to solve their problems and differences instead of simply walk away.
Worse than better definitely

No, while the marriage may last longer, it will just be two people coexisting with one another, neither one really happy, doing their own thing and escaping in some form be it substance, other people and anything else.

You mean back in the "good old days" when women were chattel, not permitted to vote and were kept barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, cooking dinner for her Man? Thankfully those days are long gone...

No. I’d be seriously mentally ill, injured or dead by now if I I hadn’t had the right to legally end things. I also wouldn’t have my kids now. It’s terrifying to think of.

Sex would have become like a beverage like coffee tea or beer. One is not forced to have such a beverage only with spouse... And one can meet up with any for coffee ...😀😀

Couples get divorced for may reasons. Making divorce illegal would be a closed minded approach to marriage and definitely not the answer.
xmedleft · 51-55, M
That's the thing, they tried it that way for a thousand years. What you see now is called Learning from experience.
I'm sure abusers would love to make it illegal. Which explains why religion loves to make it illegal.

No. It would create a nightmare for both parties.
People are hurt too easily these days

The historical record says yes.

Unfortunately, the solution to marriage is way more complicated than that
