I visited my wife
She leaves again Monday and I just wanted to see her again before she does. I offered all I could for her to get her the help she needs, choosing my language carefully so it doesn’t come off condescending in any way. Even so, she flat-out refused. But the way she did so, in a genuinely remorseful tone: “I’m sorry, but no. It’s too late for that.”
My heart sank. I’m sorry she feels that way. I truly am. I’ve said this before, but I just hope she knows that my no longer being with her is not because I don’t care about her anymore. I still love her. In a perfect life, her and Desmond would both have an active place in my life.
I gave her a big hug and wished her all the best on her trip. I even told her I love her. She said she loves me too and to tell Desmond she loves him too. That’s about all I can ask for.
