I'm gonna get some hate from this, I know. But I just feel like stating this.
Whatever fault you can find in a consenting, incestuous relationship exists in any other relationship. I am NOT talking about inbreeding, nor underage, nor forced relationships.

The age gap. One side could be several decades older. Happens all the time outside the family. Cougars, gold diggers, suger daddies/mommies, etc.
The power dynamic. Older syblings, parents, aunts/uncles, etc. One will naturally have more authority over the other. Lets be honest, relationships have always had a one sided power dynamic. Some more extreme than others, but they all do.
It's just weird/gross. This is an opinion. What's weird/gross to one person is the norm to another is the kink of yet another still.
It's a sin! Then don't do it. Let others sin in peace. That being said, the bible has implications and undeniable instances of incest in several places. Not to mention all kinds of other twisted rules that label women as little more than living incubators.
It's illegal. This true but several other kinds of relationships were illegal. Interracial and homosexuality primarily. Also, the degree of incest has different legalities depending in the local govt. In some state of America it's legal to marry cousins. In some countries it's perfectly legal to marry siblings if socially looked down upon.

I'm willing to argue other points if anyone can bring them up. And while I'm at it I will even admit I'm in an intimate relationship with a family member. I will not reveal whom on here so don't ask.

Bring on the hate. Worst you could do is harsh words I'll ignore. šŸ˜˜

Let's add a poll. For reasons. Do you agree or not?

I took a cultural anthropology class in college. There are very few universals in culture, thereā€™s even one culture in rural China that has no concept of marriage. Now this comes with the corollary that different cultures have different notions about whom is and is not family, for example, some cultures be like, ā€œOh, your motherā€™s sister? Sheā€™s not related to you. But your motherā€™s brotherā€™s sonā€™s second cousinā€™s nephew? Heā€™s family!ā€ However, all cultures agree that if someone is in your family, then it is wrong for you to have sex with them. I donā€™t remember discussing why in depth that was, but Iā€™m vaguely under the impression that itā€™s because sex might affect your relationship with a family member in ways that you wouldnā€™t like.
@Theyitis I read somewhere it was an evolutionary trait to ensure the genes remained strong.
