Seriously though, infidelity can happen on multiple levels whether it’s physical or emotional. I think emotional affairs are much easier just because we all have access to more people via channels like this one. I’d have to believe there are studies out there that might be able to confirm your theory, but I’m too tired to use the Google machine to look them up. I used to have access to all sorts of peer-reviewed research on a bevy of subjects but no longer have that.

I think historically they would have. They just didn't have as many chances. They were often home with the children keeping house. Like you mentioned, opportunity. I believe that in the 50s and 60s when men cheated it was more often with married women than single ones.

No, for a couple of reasons. Women cheat cyclically according to ovulation while men are not bound to a cycle, and older men continue cheating while older women (who don't ovulate) are no longer inclined.
