Does anyone else hate chicken that's been microwaved?

I cook chicken thighs all the time. It's a favorite and a staple. But I just can't stand it unless it's fresh, or in soup. Never microwaved. Gross. Am I alone on that??

It gets that weird chewy texture 🤮

I’d rather eat it cold from fridge than microwave it. You could pop it in oven or toaster oven to warm it back up, I understand that is not convenient or quick

I don't own a microwave or use them. My boyfriend has one he occasionally uses to mostly thaw meat out in, which I wont eat as it tastes strange.

You may be alone, thinking that microwaving is a viable option for cooking chicken.
Notsimilarreally · 31-35, F
@Northwest no, I would never do that
fun4us2b · M
I'm ok with leftover chicken cold, cut up in a salad is not so bad...
Notsimilarreally · 31-35, F
@fun4us2b that's a great way to have leftover chicken breast.
fun4us2b · M
@Notsimilarreally It OK for thighs too....but not as much....
ArtieKat · M
I'm not sure if you're referring to cooking chicken thighs from raw or simply reheating. I agree that uncooked thighs aren't good in a microwave - but chicken breasts, cooked in a closed casserole dish, taste just like poached. I've had my air fryer for nearly 6 months now and I'm a real convert! Still experimenting with ways of replacing other cooking methods.

See I’m not the only one that thought that.

Air fryer to rewarm
thepreposterouspanda · 36-40, M
Microwaved chicken is pretty bad but not as vile as microwaved shrimp. 🤢

@WaryWitchWandering Like eating packing peanuts. 😐
Notsimilarreally · 31-35, F
@thepreposterouspanda meh, chicken is worse 🤢
Fairydust · F
I wouldn’t ever use a microwave to cook a meal.

@GlitterEater

No idea 🤷🏼‍♀️ it sounded like that, some people do use it to cook meat.
Notsimilarreally · 31-35, F
@Fairydust the only meal I would ever cook in a microwave is a microwave tv dinner which we don't ever eat. I was just talking about re heating. I know absolutely no one that cook meat in the microwave, gross.

@Notsimilarreally

Lol you did say you couldn’t cook the other day. 😆
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
Totally agree. If you reheat it in an air fryer it’s almost as good as fresh. Definitely better than in the microwave.
Zaphod42 · 46-50, M
Yep! Too rubbery when it’s nuked. I’ll reheat it in the microwave on occasion, but never cook it that way.
TexChik · F
It gets tough. Cold Fried Chicken the next day is amazing. For some reason, it needs more salt but it is so good.
GlitterEater · 36-40, F
Reheat it in a frying pan or (toaster) oven.
Notsimilarreally · 31-35, F
@GlitterEater this is what I should do. It's just lately I'm always going with the easy route, because baby.
SinlessOnslaught · 26-30, M
It loses some quality but it's still good.
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
You’re not alone microwaved chicken is gross
Muthafukajones · 46-50, M
I only barbecue chicken or broil it in the oven
SW-User
Yes...it gets rubbery
justlooking2023 · 56-60, M
There's a fine line between moist and rubbery. Just have to find it out.
JovialMoose · 46-50, M
I’m not a big fan of slabs of any meat. So I would probably chop it up and pan fry it anyway.
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
that's how I am about salmon
travelguy01 · 41-45, M
Yep I can understand that
Unless it's reheated sweet and sour chicken.
