Hi friends. If a guy gets asked what his most prized possession is and his answer is his wife/gf/significant other, how would you perceive that?

Because it can kinda be taken in two different ways. I guess even more than two if you look that deep into it, but still. Same if the genders were reversed but I feel it applies more with a guy saying it to a woman because of reasons I'm not sure how to explain right now.
I think I understand where you're going. I would never apply the term 'possession' about another person. The only exception i can think of is in a consensual Dom/sub relationship where the terminology is deemed acceptable.

@Majorlatency both lol
@AngelPassion I'm up for that as well.. well there goes my fly closely pursued by my pole..
AngelPassion · 31-35, F
@Majorlatency haha awesome!

I wouldn't care for my partner saying that at all. The man may mean well, but I'm not owned nor controlled, so I don't like it.

@SW-User this one. Enjoy your harem 👯
AngelPassion · 31-35, F
I feel like I'm not as confused as I should be in regard of what just happened
Peaceful · F
@AngelPassion I mean it comes down to what makes you feel comfortable. I don't care for it, but that's me.
sighmeupforthat · 46-50, M
I say that... she says I'm hers.

Folks don't like it?

Lick me.
katielass · F
It doesn't necessarily mean he sees her as property. I would not be overly sensitive and be ridiculous about that.
AngelPassion · 31-35, F
@katielass yea words don't always reflect intentions
katielass · F
@AngelPassion exactly and if we act all offended it can just make us look silly. and trust me, women can look silly enough without adding to it. lol
AngelPassion · 31-35, F
@katielass so true lol

I'd say it was an honor to be called his. In fact, my former boyfriend used to say things like that. I loved it.

If
He had said that His Love, (of the female in question), or Her Love was his Prize,
Then of course it is clear what he means and it is lovely.

And if he meant That☝ when he said that She was His Prize or Treasure, then all is well.

But if his Prize is Her as just a Trophy or Object, then he needs a reality check and she needs to examine her role in his life and decide if she's willing to be a Thing to Him rather than a Partner.
AngelPassion · 31-35, F
@Some1Else yea agreed!!
MrsPeterEvans · 31-35, F
I am happy to be my husband's most prized possession
SW-User
Don't read too much into it, it is a positive thing.
I'd consider it a positive thing
williemcd · M
If he quantified it by saying "her love" or "her being a part of me".. no blem.. Else some folks would consider it would be considering them as objects.
AngelPassion · 31-35, F
@williemcd would you consider it that way too?
williemcd · M
@AngelPassion Nope.. but just so damn many pc cops out there... and pseudo feminist that would take it that way.
AngelPassion · 31-35, F
@williemcd that's for sure

I wouldn't think that much about it. It's their relationship,not mine.
AngelPassion · 31-35, F
@Miram and if it was yours?
Miram · 31-35, F
@AngelPassion I will inquire about what it means. I don't think I will be dating anyone who is too possessive ever and it's his actions that will show me his true nature, not his words.
AngelPassion · 31-35, F
@Miram true, it's good as long as his actions don't treat you possessively
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
I'd take it as them perhaps being a bit obsessive about the partner, quite possibly unhealthily so.
SW-User
Well, because there is a long history of women being regarded as men's property.
AngelPassion · 31-35, F
@SW-User yea exactly haha would've mentioned that but was certain someone would just say there's also a history of men being regarded as women's property, and I'd have to address all that 😂
I think we should drop political correctness on this
AngelPassion · 31-35, F
@Mondayschild this is more about how what the words could be perceived by others, not as much as whether or not a guy should say it.
you need to explain this more...In my mind a woman is not a possession
AngelPassion · 31-35, F
@penguinswon explain which part more?
every time you objectify a woman it's complicated. i'm not sure how to explain it either.
bhatjc · 46-50, M
Sounds like he is a lucky man
bhatjc · 46-50, M
Because he loves that women,very deeply .
AngelPassion · 31-35, F
