When a partner wishes to control you but is doing it " out of love "?
Is it acceptable??? I don't think so. I mean they either like you, or they don't.... otherwise it's like you are their pet project

Again, ive always said this and always will, it's not acceptable. However, it can be remedied if we look at the reasons people do this sort of thing. Acknowledging that people do bad things not because theyre bad, but to try and attain a certain goal, is not excusing people, but trying to prevent it in the future.
