Which is harder?

What would be harder for you, to tell someone that you love them or that you do not love them back?

That I love them. I mean, it sucks to tell someone that you don't love them, but I feel that spares them more pain in the long run. Telling someone I love them, however... With each year, I've become increasingly aware of my own fragility, and I'm not sure I could withstand someone answering that with rejection, or worse, ambivalence.
