Why are older people so judgemental? Were they not young once too?

A lot of us do not wish to come across judgmental. We just lack the skills needed to hopefully persuade the younger generation from making the same mistakes we made and suffered the consequences; hoping to spare the younger people from the pain and heartaches we went through at your age.
