Should I go to dinner with him?

It started when my friend came into class exclaiming that my boyfriend was roasting me (making fun of me) in his last class. It was embarrassing to hear all the things he had to say about my faces, my handwriting, and so forth. It made me think about how much of an asshole he can be. He never asks how my day is, always focused on him, and everytime we fight he threatens to hurt himself because he "lives for me". Many times i find myself putting more effort than him. He buys me snacks and expects that to be his way of showing love. He invited me to go to dinner with him tonight but he knows im upset with him and his treatment. He says he will change but he has told me that before. I dont know what to do.
