16 years old dating a 24 year old?

I am much older now..kinda 18, but a while ago when I was 16, I had dated a guy that was 24...Now it was all sweet and the relationship did last about a year. In the time we were dating, we recieved MANY rude comments. I would like to ask what everybody's opinion is on this. Is Age really a number???

Where I live, a 16 year old is a minor. So at best he was an adult fooling around with an under age girl and could've ended up in jail.

@Psnyder69: If you're actually at all fascinated by the truth, most of the US is like Kentucky. 31 US states use 16 as age of consent. Not sure why you're giving this young woman so much grief for her honesty.
