Independence is important, but it should be understood in balance. Being independent doesn’t mean disregarding your partner or taking it to an extreme where you act as if you're completely unattached.
True independence in a relationship means having your own identity, goals, and interests, but still being considerate of your partner and the relationship. Doing whatever you want, whenever you want, without regard for others, isn’t independence—it’s selfishness. If that’s your mindset, perhaps being single is a better fit.

@LifeIsShort even dependent people can be selfish...they tend to make excuses for their partner's bad behaviours. i agree with you, many people think being selfish is ok , they can do and say whatever they want without considering how it effects others.
