It depends. As long as her independence doesn’t become masculine and we both are now having a power struggle.
sahi81 · 22-25, F
@Heavenlywarrior what is masculine according to you?
sahi81 · 22-25, F
@Heavenlywarrior i think relationship is not about power or ego struggles , it's about mutual respect and understanding
Heavenlywarrior · 36-40, M
@sahi81 in my opinion when a woman is masculine she becomes bossy, tried to order a man around, she becomes boisterous or even competes with her man, or disagreeable.
Heavenlywarrior · 36-40, M
@sahi81 I agree, do you feel there are gender roles in relationships?
sahi81 · 22-25, F
@Heavenlywarrior yea i came across such women... being a woman myself. They seem to have some kind of unhealthy ego issues. Healthy ego is important for healthy relationship, both men and women
sahi81 · 22-25, F
@Heavenlywarrior now a days, women are also taking lead and making choices so i believe gender roles are becoming less. But still there are some differences between men and women, for example : the way they were raised, physical strength, safety, pregnancy, etc. I think people should respect each others differences and similarities and adapt with changes and able to find a way/survive in any environment.
I think Mutual respect is important, not gender roles. Different people are capable of different things, doing things in group is more beneficial, it's hard to do everything alone in life but not impossible.

@Heavenlywarrior btw i have seen men too like that who try to compete with their wife or other women . Such people are not good for having relationships since there might be no co-operation.
Heavenlywarrior · 36-40, M
@sahi81 true agree with a lot of what you have said. I do feel also that gender roles play their significant roles when needed.
sahi81 · 22-25, F
@Heavenlywarrior what roles they play when needed? for example?
Heavenlywarrior · 36-40, M
@sahi81 when it comes to reproduction of life… when it comes to doing hard labor, when it comes to nurturing an infant, or upkeeping of the home and children there are certain things the two genders have naturally with out much effort and their bodies are designed to perform during that role
sahi81 · 22-25, F
@Heavenlywarrior yes i agree with all but i disagree with keeping up home and kids... i think father too plays a huge role in it.
Heavenlywarrior · 36-40, M
@sahi81 yeah both do for sure…but there are even roles in that is what I’m getting at.
In your family… who is usually the one preparing the meals?
Who is usually the one that all the children feared ?

@Heavenlywarrior my bro and me cook depending on who is free
my mom used to cook, my dad cooks when mom not there
children feared? we feared both ...father is less understanding towards me...
lifting heavy things, fixing, going to bank, keeping money in bank, all my brother does ( mostly outside things)... sometimes i have problem with it when i need money for something i need to ask him. I am trying to go to bank myself and do all the paper work and stuff
I have problem with fixing things when my brother not there since when i was a kid my bro used to do them for me, now i find it hard when i have to do it by myself when i want. I am trying to learn.

@sahi81 interesting
sahi81 · 22-25, F
@Heavenlywarrior i had problem with not able to do those things like getting money from bank, fixing, doing outside things and lifting when my brother was not around.
Even when my brother was around,i felt like i have to waste time asking him when he is available... when in that time i can get those things done myself.
I felt he was making me overly dependent on him that i don't have confidence to do those things myself even when i know i can do those myself if i practice.

@sahi81 that’s understandable to know how to be able to do certain things independently.
And it is a good quality you have to know this.
Just keep in mind that we are here to help each other and we all have different strengths.
So don’t feel bad about asking for it from your brother when u really need it or any other person that can help you in time of weakness.

@Heavenlywarrior problem is now a days it's hard to trust anyone... to seek help or to give help... both. I am very careful where, whom and how i seek or give help
