My girlfriend thinks she can sing but can't, should I tell her?

My girlfriend is a wannabe singer who thinks she can sing, but can't. She'll take any opportunity to sing, which annoys people. Should I tell her she can't sing, or let her figure it out?
Yes, our significant others are super into us explaining all their shortcomings to them

@DrawntoaDistance Perhaps you're right, she already believes she is and is oblivious to others saying otherwise.

@DrawntoaDistance You know that ain't happening😂.

@PinkMoon Hey now!

Don't she'll be crushed. 😞
A great test of your love. Unless she starts selling all worldly possessions to fund a world tour, play along. How much time does she spend singing painfully?
JimFarris16 · 18-21, M
@Mamapolo2016 As often as she can, which not many people give her the chance to now that they've heard her, she does take advantage of the occasional public spotlight she does get. She seems so wrapped up in her singing that she doesn't notice when people aren't enjoying it. Other times, it's mostly just around herself or me.

Tell her to upload videos of her singing on tiktok and let the internet do the rest.
JimFarris16 · 18-21, M
@PinkMoon She's been booed before but didn't get the hint.
PinkMoon · 26-30, F
@JimFarris16 In that case I say just let it be. Why risk the drama you know?
JimFarris16 · 18-21, M
@PinkMoon Yeah, I guess it would be unnecessary. My friends also hate her singing but still give me props for being able to "land her", I guess that's guy code.
No, leave her be. She’s not hurting anyone and it’s clearly something she loves.

I myself am a very average singer…but I loooove to sing. My ex always used to encourage me and we’d even make music. Such happy memories for me! Another relationship-I was constantly told to be quiet and treated like I was annoying…

Verdict: I still don’t sing much around people because he killed something inside me that was beautiful. When I’m alone I’ll sing and sing and it’s just something that just fills my cup!

So don’t do that to her. Let her shine, good or bad. Lol

@JimFarris16 i would be do this gently and tactful as possible you may be able too use an other idea a plan a first . say too her do a demo tape and hope when she listens too it she then realises her singing is not as good as she thought
JimFarris16 · 18-21, M
@smiler2012 What if she doesn't?
smiler2012 · 56-60
@JimFarris16 🤔plan b just tell her outright
HumanEarth · 56-60, F
So what

Is she having fun singing

I used to sound like a Mack truck running over a Volkswagen Beetle.

But I kept at it, and I got better.

Why don't you sing with her
JimFarris16 · 18-21, M
@HumanEarth I did do karaoke with her once, "Summer Nights".
HumanEarth · 56-60, F
She will get better, encourage her to sing more
Aysel · F
If she's not harming anyone, I don't see the issue; let her sing her heart out.
Aysel · F
@JimFarris16 Let her sing you a lullaby.
JimFarris16 · 18-21, M
@Aysel My birthday is coming up this month...
JimFarris16 · 18-21, M
@Aysel There's a good chance she'll try to channel her inner Marylin Monroe.
Well you can tell her she's horrible but try to put it nicely
Lilnonames · F
It makes her happy so leave her alone

@OlderSometimesWiser What would you do if you were in my shoes with a guy?
@JimFarris16 There’s actually a movie about this subject, but I’m guessing you might be too young for it to interest you. It’s called Florence Foster Jenkins and stars Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant. She plays a singer who doesn’t realize how awful she is and her husband (Grant) goes to great lengths to make sure she never finds out.

Lol….. maybe you should watch it with your girlfriend. 😄

@OlderSometimesWiser Might be good for some tips on my part.
