Social anxiety can be pretty crippling, I got over mine by brute forcing myself into social situations (definitely not going to work for everyone) but joining some sort of activity where the social side isn't the focus ie. Cooking classes, cycling club, archery(a personal favourite of mine) if you live near or in a city there will be tons of community projects available to participate in
