Your favourite social media site & why ???

Most of us have accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter & Snapchat but we still prefer similarworlds most .

Maybe we can be ourself here , express our self without the fear of being judged and take suggestions and advice .

Guess some people are most comfortable to be themselves where nobody actually knows them . Anonymity can be liberating .

Your opinion on what SW gives you that other social media sites don't ???

I used EP for a time but abandoned it well before it closed, as it becoming rather too nasty in places.

Now I use SW and AnswerMug (slightly similar to SW); plus one or two specialist sites dedicated to my interests.

I have never and never will use Facebook / Meta, Twitter / X (stupid name-changes), Instagram and the like.

Why my choice? Anonymity, finding a few people with similar interests and tastes; occasionally some interesting discussions..... and as far as I can tell SW and AM are not data-harvesters like those others!

@ArishMell Thank you for the reply . E P did attract trolls eventually along with spammers . Nice that you settled on SW and answer mug , for the big social media sites we are the product 🙂

@moonlighting I don't doubt EP attracted trolls and spammers though I don't think I spotted any; but what put me off EP was some very unhealthy, dark strands which put me off the whole site.

It had some very eccentric ones too, but they were harmless. (Though I noticed if you asked their followers why they believed they were Tarot-card reading, wild dogs or the like, they were unable to say and some would become quite aggressive about it.)

@ArishMell Towards the end e.p had its fair share of trolls , spams and fakes . But most sites online are the same. Yes difference of opinion could have been handled better on e.p I agree with your view.

@moonlighting What put me off was what seemed a growing number of people advocating being violent to children. I left it I think at least two years before it closed.

@ArishMell That's sad , don't appreciate that view either . For many why e.p closed was a mystery in itself

@moonlighting Thank you - yes, I never knew why it closed either. Just some commercial pressure like insufficient income?
