Does your significant other have to be your best friend too?

I see relationships as a circle with three rings. Inner circle is me. I have to be comfortable within my own skin. This has to be the strongest relationship. First ring are those that are very close - ones you can share anything with at anytime Second ring are those that are close but they struggle with holding space Third ring are those that don’t deserve space or that bounce between the second and third ring.

My significant other bounces between the second and third ring. We don’t have the deep conversations that I have with others in my circles. It’s just the way it is. I cannot change her, nor do I profess that I can.
