To think this a bit stupid?

Young girl of 22 got cheated on by her boyfriend.
She gets told by a woman in her fifties 'You are the strongest woman I know.' Personally although the situation is hard, I do not think that makes her the strongest woman in the world?

She said that to raise her spirits. Give her confidence. If someone is sad you dont just say " hmmm. Well. Guess you just suck".
Yeah it’s nice to be supportive, but that’s a bit much. Hopefully it wasn’t sarcasm.

It's a platitude. It's meant to make people feel better, not to be factually correct.

This is meant to be reassuring not factual

Just meant to cheer her up, probably
That's what someone says to motivate and move ahead..
