raw Chromium is about 2.5(+/-) times the weight of aluminum

however, chrome plating is barely thicker than a sheet of paper
Bashful · 41-45, M
@wildbill83 Thinner than a sheet a paper. Aircraft specs are .003 to .005 inches. paper is about .007.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@Bashful varies by application
Bashful · 41-45, M
@wildbill83 This is true and if I'm doing the math and timing the process is going to be wrong. Especially rotary flap peening. That's hocus pocus.

Yes. Chrome is heavier than aluminum. The way to tell which element is heavier is by their atomic weight. Chromium (chrome) has an atomic weight of 24. Aluminum has an atomic weight of 13. So if both are applied via electroplating, the chrome hilt will be heavier than the aluminum one. But @Bashful is correct.
@CleverFunnyNameGoesHere Oh cool I didn't know that!
@DisgruntledWookie Sorry. I gave the atomic number not the atomic weight. Aluminum atomic weight is 26.982 and the atomic weight of Chrome is 51.9961.
Bashful · 41-45, M
The chrome is thin.
@Bashful So it wouldnt weigh it down a lot?
Bashful · 41-45, M
@DisgruntledWookie Not enough to make a difference.
@Bashful Ok thanks for your help!
