Yes. Chrome is heavier than aluminum. The way to tell which element is heavier is by their atomic weight. Chromium (chrome) has an atomic weight of 24. Aluminum has an atomic weight of 13. So if both are applied via electroplating, the chrome hilt will be heavier than the aluminum one. But @Bashful is correct.

@DisgruntledWookie Sorry. I gave the atomic number not the atomic weight. Aluminum atomic weight is 26.982 and the atomic weight of Chrome is 51.9961.
