Instead of staying at home with her, as a couch potato, do something with her. Visit a museum. Go to a theater. Spend an evening at a concert hall with her. Walk her to a place where she hasn't been before.

Well you can start by asking her why she seems unhappy. That's what my boyfriend does when I'm upset. Sometimes I hit him with the "I'm fine leave me alone" but he knows to keep pushing until I eventually tell him. It always makes me feel better to talk about it.
