Do you think it’s possible to be friends with someone you were once in love with?

How do you know if you’re being a mature adult about a situation? Or when you’re just being taken advantage of?

I am still friends with a former lover. I was once convinced that I was in love with him...and now our relationship, though still loving, has degraded to the point where we are just friends. I call him "Turkey Man", and I feel a responsibility to take care of him as far as I am able, because his health has degraded, too.

I sometimes feel that he only likes me when he can use me. But I still care about him.
