Be struggling with divorcing your ex husband but be incredibly happy with your partner?
I told my friend it was difficult divorcing my ex and she questioned whether I should be with my current partner....

I went through this. You spent years with that person and it is only natural to have feelings for them that are positive mixed in with all the negative.

I had the additional layer of my ex having a legit personality disorder that I struggled to accept. I regularly needed to focus on staying in my rational mind rather than letting emotion take over.

That being said, I found a new person who is amazing. She altered my life in a very positive way and helped me stay focused and in my rational mind. I am not sure I would have survived the brutal divorce process which cost me $100K and took 6x longer than it should have driven by exes personality disorder.
Sure, you were together for years... and you probably still love each other in at least some ways.

You've got to adjust to the lose of the old relationship as well as embracing the new - I think that some conflicting emotions are to be expected.

I guess, it's better to close a chapter completely, before starting a fresh one. Don't ever think about sailing in two boats at same time.
