If she says they're just friends, they're probably just friends. It's a different story if they've interacted with each other in suggestive ways, or if they're crossing boundaries that most people would be uncomfortable with.

It all comes down to whether or not you trust her, which is a [i]you[/i] problem, not a [i]her[/i] problem. You don't get to decide who your girlfriend talks to. If she's given you a reason to distrust her, talk to her about it. If not, it's really not your business. So yes, it's "ok"

It's controlling to tell someone who they can and can't be friends with.
