I always thought women preferred #1 but I read an article the other day and it got me thinking. It said:

Movies like Grease, Dirty Dancing, and She’s All That convinced women everywhere that you could easily turn a bad boy good. In fact, they convinced girls that the only boys worth being with were the ones who needed to be reformed in the first place. They taught us that if we’re just smart enough, interesting enough, and pretty enough, we could change that one guy who’s infamous for getting with every single girl.

So maybe I had it wrong

One can have their own issues to work through ,and be there to support and help others.

Emotional stability isn't a static achievement, it is constant work.

I like it when there is a realization that it is about self-discovery and improvement instead of placing the responsibility on someone else including one's partner. That includes both sides, why would men only be expected to care for their emotional stability?

So inevitably I do not have problems with someone who needs support, unless they are overly dependent and unwilling to help themselves or be better.

Maternal instinct probably. Everyone has a thing for different varieties and everyone is different. What you thought before wasn't totally false nor is that article.

You might also consider that women are not a monolith, despite media claims. And just like men don’t all want the same type of woman, not all women want “fixer-uppers”. 🙂
