Not necessarily. Some people are against marriage because they believe it can complicate a relatively simple premise; two people wanting to make a life together.

@bijouxbroussard why could they have done so?

@scooogy Because they would’ve had more legal rights as his blood relatives. The only thing that superseded a blood relative (back then) was a spouse.
@bijouxbroussard hm makes sense

No, it's that now there is less religious influence people are increasingly seeing they don't have to marry.. and women, who have careers etc. are increasingly seeing that they don't want to be tied down and do the traditional marriage thing.. There are many societal influences but yes, one of them is that people are freer to move on if the relationship isn't working

Well you could be into marriage when still have a disability to maintain a relationship, just saying
@yeronlyman but wouldn't one rather tend to avoid marriage knowing they'd be unable to even maintain a normal relationship?
yeronlyman · 51-55, M
@scooogy humans aren’t naturally selfish and have instincts for reproduction and bonding eventually
I think it a factor but not a given

@yeronlyman I heard that her female cousin hadn't had a relationship yet because she was mostly aggressive, if that's important here.

maybe? Like actual opposition to the concept of marriage in general probably comes from insecurity. But not wanting to get married yourself could be a million different valid things

Not at all. Marriage means you have to explain yourself, compromise, haggle, share, and do without. Who is in a rush to do that?

In my small realm of experience it has actually correlated

No. The aversion varies from one person to another.
