anyone else ended up in this type of relationship

where the person makes you feel like they really need you and at first it feels great and feels like authentic love but then you realize they really dont care about your wellbeing, they just want to be loved and want what you bring in their lives. but that feeling of being needed makes us feel loved. i swear my ex just has to cry and there i am throwing myself in front of a truck for her (figuratively speaking). she makes me feel like she is so lost without me and she needs me so much but she only cares about herself.

she sounds kind of selfish the way you are painting her picture, I'd be careful you arent being used

@Penny yes, I'm probably being used.

@reflectingmonkey well, what is making you stay with her?
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
@Penny well, we are no longer technically together but she calls me all the time for moral support, also she lives in an another country and i support her financially and i am presently trying to help her take a course in something so she can get a good job and not need me to support her. her other option is working 12 hours for 12 $ a day , she's a refugee from Venezuela living in Peru. I met her in Peru in June. went back to see her in october, going to see her in 11 days.

@reflectingmonkey why do you think she doesn't care about your well-being?
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
@Penny when we traveled together, a bunch of little details made me realize she has this princess attitude. she always expects everything to revolve around her. she'll get all pityful to her her way and she'll act all sad and depressed until i do what she wants. like she never wanted to go out at night for supper, she wanted me to go but food and bring it back and it was always something super specific. and a few times I'd come back with what she asked for and she'd be watching stuff on the net and would act like i'm not there. lately she was unfaithful so i left her but since i already had the plane ticket i decided to still go see her for christmas. after that i come back and we will probably never see each other again.

@reflectingmonkey i'd let go and cut ties if i were you. give her a big kiss off for christmas?
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
@Penny would probably be the best thing to do but my plan B is to go to Lima, spend a day or two with her and then go visit some friends. ( i have friends in Cusco and in Bogota at a short flight from lima)

@reflectingmonkey I was with someone like her and I'm so glad I finally left him! This is what I think it wrong with her...Narcissistic personality disorder — one of several types of personality disorders — is a mental condition in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration, troubled relationships, and a lack of empathy for others.
Hope you find your way out sooner than later.😔💙

@Peaches yes, sounds about right. I know, thanks.
