What was a foolish idea you once held about dating & relationships?

That by this age I'd actually be in a relationship. Nope, still single.

I believed that having a man who was willing to jump right in without a safety net would be exactly what I wanted.. I soon found out that actually such men didn't exist.. they were all too scared of even considering relationships.. or they were all just looking for free rides with no intention of more..

That people in relationships were, for the most part, very honest with each other. Save for a few bad apples people didn't hide things. That hasn't been my experience.

That things would just happen. That life was this track. You leave school, then you go to college, you meet a woman, get married, have kids, etc, etc.
I didn't really have a good sense of my necessary agency in all that.

That there's people who are "perfect" for eachother. It's a negotiation and perfect doesn't exist.

I thought that every single couple who dated actually loved each other.

That dudes have to make the first move.

That it had to be about two people.
