What do you think about a girl who punches a guy in the face?

Even if the guy is a grade A bastard and super annoying, I think he doesn't deserve to get punched in the face by anyone but presume she was just pissed off.

@CharlieZ Just as if a girl deserves a punch, she should get one?
CharlieZ · 70-79, M
@suzie1960 If she is in physical conditions that make it fair (as trained as a martial art profesor I had) Í would say yes. What is not usual.
This is not, at least from me, only a gender thing.
I wouldn´t punch a man if he is, by any reason, weaker.

My focus is the reason why she or he deserves a punch.
A kid abuser? A toturer? Others like that, of both genders? They desderve, at least, a punch.

Do you say that NO REASON validates EVER physical violence? I disagree.

Do you say that gender equality of rights, freedom and dignity (which I stongly support) shoud be equated to that nonsense of gender neutrality?
Sorry, no.

@CharlieZ I say a person's sex (and gender) is irrelevant in these cases.
CharlieZ · 70-79, M
@suzie1960 Not so sure, suzie. Average muscular development, physical structure and size use to be different.
Of course, there are exceptions.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@CharlieZ Make your determination on those factors then, not on the persons sex which might be unrelated. Gender is a completely separate matter completely unrelated to a person's physical structure.
CharlieZ · 70-79, M
@suzie1960 My determination IS about those factors AND the reasons someone may DESERVE a punch.
But besides individual cases, even if is a separate matter when deciding, it´s FAR from true that the biology of a dimorphic species like humans is completely unrelated to gender.

But let me be more precise.

On equal conditions of physical stucture and fitness, I´ll make same decition no matter the gender.

On the other hand, I have no serious reasons to follow the "a la mode" trend that asserts that gender is a kind of anomaly that should be ignored always.

@CharlieZ How does gender (masculinity/femininity) affect physical structure? It's a purely sociological construct.

A person's sex can have some effect in general but should never be taken to override the specific. For example, in general women are shorter than men but only a sexist would claim that a 6 foot tall woman is shorter than a 5 foot tall man.
CharlieZ · 70-79, M
@suzie1960 Averages on physical structures are build on usually serious non biased population meassures.
And they reflect a biological / evolutive reality. They also show that gender differeces trend to decrease along time.

How does gender (masculinity/femininity) affect physical structure?
It´s called dimorphism and is rather biology than culture.

No doubt there are things severly biased by sociological constructions!!
Most of opresive prejudices are!
Not at all the case we are talking about.

Of course a six foot tall woman is obviusly taller than a a five foot man!!
How can I or anyone say otherwise?

May once Pa Kua female professor (sifu) of about 5 foot tall could easily beat simultaneously FOUR 6 foot tall trained men.

And there are thousands and millions of examples of examples like that.

Even so, science is always about the specific of collective group entities and not about individual cases.

Please, don´t dig for sexist conceptions in my worldview. There are not.

But the idea of gender neutrality instead of gender equality IS a recent "social construction" and not an accurate nor even well possed one.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@CharlieZ You seem to be confusing gender with sex. A person of the female sex is not necessarily of the feminine gender.

If you need a tall person to do a job, pick a tall person of either sex, not a short man just because men are taller on average.
CharlieZ · 70-79, M
@suzie1960 I´m guilty of sometimes using sex and gender as if the same thing, you are right and I´m wrong in this language stuff.

Of course, if choosing on an individual basis, I have no prejudices in selecting either women or men.
Would be about their personal stuff regardless sex, gender or other irelevant distinctions.

But if prepearing, let´s say clothes for a large group outdoor activity where individualities are not known a priori, I would certainly know at least the proportion of the group about gender / sex composition (from the same population origin) to make a better size bet.
