Would you tell people you are separated if you arent divorced and still live with your spouse?

I tell the truth as much as possible, humanly. Why deny facts?

One can be separated and working out the details of the divorce and dividing up assets

Why not...it would seem deceptive, otherwise.

You could be permanently emotionally or philosophically or both, severed in your marriage, but the courts still treats you as a unified pair in matters of civil law unless you physically separate or file a notice with the register of deeds.

Usually there's a definite time limit to these things.

For those with the need to know, I'd tell them. It's a practical thing to do--living together.
