Is this rude ? Calling someone or something they do basic

This guy asked me out and I said yes and he asked me what I'm doing and I told him I was going hiking in vail . And he said I will withhold the "basic" comments for now.

I actually kind of offended by that comment like who cares if its basic and why do people say that anyway. I kind of dont want to go on a date with him if he's going to judge me on something I really enjoy doing .

If it's rude to you then yes it's best to tell him that it offended you and to not do it again, cos he might have just thrown it out like a casual joke

@mwoodl21 I mean hiking is something a basic bish would do lol, no offense, personally basic just means what is the trend of what a girl does now, not really insulting, and hiking is also like super healthy so he's point is invalid and just probably wanted a reaction from u. Although in the way he said it also was pretty rude, cos it seemed he was telling u to not talk about something u like to do.

@mwoodl21 what does basic mean to you? Cos (kinda pathetic to base my standard on what social norm is based on youtube) but a lot of people joke about themselves being basic and it's sort of like to turn a negative connotation of being spoiled or mainstream and stuff into a yeap I am, but so what? *snaps fingers*

@mwoodl21 but then that would be degrading to every girl that loves Starbucks as just stupid...although obviously.. some would be lol I know it's going against my initial comment of to tell him ur offended by it, but to be offended by it would just proof u are basic and not self aware that well hiking is a common sport, but of course take it with a grain of salt cos I know there are some other words that people think can just throw around but I know at least secretly I'll get very offended lol or start acting passive aggressive which sucks ass but sometimes it's the only way to get my point across muahahaha
