At your age, it's not their choice who you date, but as your parents, it's normal for them to express interest.

butterfly1013 · 26-30, F
Once you reach adult age your parents have no authority over who you go out with. It is normal for them to ask though as eventually they probably would like to meet the person you are talking to and they want to make sure that you are being treated right. Regardless of the circumstances they can't really stop you from dong what you want to do. However, they are probably more concerned because he is someone that you have only known via the internet. If they didn't ask about him then I would think they don't care about your well being.

It's just curiosity, like a close friend would ask.

According to your age, you should be able to date who ever you want, but you are still living in your parents house, so you are obligated to their rules. You want complete freedom from your parents, you need to start to support yourself and then you can do what ever you want without any permission.

Yes, as a young, single female, there are all types of creeps looking to take advantage of you. It's always best that someone knows who you're with, esp males, and some females, at all times. That way, if things go south, you have help to get out of a potentially bad situation.

Go ahead and tell them. I'd think that they should know if they disapprove that all it will do is make you want to be with the older man even more.

If they don't object then you'll probably lose interest.

Isn't that how it usually goes.

Heh that's the same saying from every Family lol. You could tell them the truth that you're seeing or someone or you're not ready for dating, I get excuse when I say that line that I'm not ready.
