Guess you married really youhg. I think texting has been around for almost twenty years now, right?

@sometimeslonelytoo I had a Nokia brick phone. You had to hit each number 1-3 times to send a letter and there was a charge.

So nobody really did it.

@SW-User Yes, I remember those Nokias! We used to type things like l8 to save on the keypresses! In the early days they were used a lot more sparingly, has to be said. I still don't like the annoying beeps from messaging though. I'm much more interested in face-to-face conversations when I can have them :)

One of the SW members mentioned she was awkward at texting.

I was thinking “what did I think of girls who were awkward at texting?”

Then I remembered there wasn’t texting.

I got married in 2006 and I remember text messaging was very expensive. You were allowed so much data a month, so we actually avoided text messaging
sometimeslonelytoo · 51-55, M
@Cajunfirefly In the UK texts started off 1p each, which was very cheap, then they went up to 2p, 5p, even 10p at one time, by which you had a limited number per-month. This was all before the era of smartphones, of course.

@Cajunfirefly remember when one person would get charged talk time and the other person wouldn’t?

Dinosaurs were alive back then. @Cajunfirefly

@SW-User Yes but the Jurassic was a park, not a world ;-)

@sometimeslonelytoo Yes, but T-rex was still grumpy as he's today. Those short hands are to blame.
sometimeslonelytoo · 51-55, M
@SW-User Yup, not much he can reach for with those, without getting a back-ache ;-)
