Absolutely, it's security. Your SO may not be the only one that may come across your phone. Also how would you find out they had a password on their phone unless you were trying to snoop in their phone? So then the trust issue is that you can't be trusted which would validate their having a password.

After reading other of your posts I realize that you wants to be able to snoop on his phone because he has proven untrustworthy. In that case, if you feel you need to be able to check on his phone, you should ditch him anyway. You don't need access to the phone of someone you trust and if you can't trust your partner they are not much of a partner.

You have stated that he has already broken your trust in the past. So you don't trust him. If you did you wouldn't need to check on him. You are just a game player and are looking for excuses to justify it.
