Could a relationship ever go back to normal if the couple made up after one of them cheats?

I don't think so.

These are overall some pretty depressing, negative views. I get that every relationship is different...never mind.

@CoffeeFirst there is a trend that the younger folks see it as an unrecoverable crime. It often is, but experience (read I am getting old) has shown that we all have failures at many levels. Relationships that last have to deal with the reality of personal failures.

@daveal Preaching to the choir, dude. I'm sounding old, too, but relationships are a lot of work. Period. We should not be married right now, but we made the commitment after considering divorce more than once... Yeah, I sound old.

@CoffeeFirst you speak with the authority of experience.

@daveal Hard won happiness, very hard.

@CoffeeFirst maybe more realistic happiness?

@daveal I would say eyes wide open happiness. Divorce is still an option, if we are not getting our needs met with one another. Meanwhile, we confront the hard stuff every single day because we know the rewards will come.
