Seriously, it depends on the rules of your institution. Here, the professor would likely lose his job if the relationship was discovered. But I'm told that some universities "discourage" that kind of relationship but don't strictly ban it. And of course it used to be fairly common.

@Tallie OK, what about the rules of your institution? If professor-student relationships are forbidden there, you need to disconnect from him before you get more involved.
