Would you pawn an engagement ring?

Men, ( or women if you have an input and would like to share.) If you proposed to your girlfriend, and she accepted, but you were still acting like a fool and not taking the relationship seriously, especially if she was sick... If after several conversations after several years, she asked you to hold the ring... meaning she wasn't breaking up with you, she wasn't necessarily saying that she didn't want to marry you, she just believed that based on how you were acting you didn't seem serious about being married. and you both needed more time before entering into a lifelong commitment. Would you pawn the ring for a couple of bucks for rent ( and lose the apartment anyway) instead of asking for help?

Why the HELL did she give it back. Engagement rings are considered gifts. It's her's whether they marry or not. SHE should have held on to it and noted she wasn't wearing it until he was serious. If they end up parting, that's her $ from the ring not his.

@Starcrossed lol, naw, I didn't even want it back. regardless if it was legally considered mine or not. sometimes you jus don't want any memory or anything thankful we didn't have kids together now. he has changed so much.. or maybe I have, and he hasn't...

@sweetiepoo I get it, I wouldn't want it either. I would think he wouldn't either. Like someone else said ... it'd be shafy AF if he used it on someone else someday (unless it was an heirloom but obviously wouldn't pawn then).
Sad though if he pawned it while you were still working things out. Speaks to the maturity of someone who would do that. Clearly not ready for marriage.

@Starcrossed ikr. I asked him why he didn't ask me for help if he was in trouble with his rent. he ended up losing the place anyway, so he lost his place AND the ring. but yet, he definitely needed to grow up.
