It did for me - we spent a year on different islands, talking daily, visited a couple of times for a weekend. When she graduated, she moved to where I was, we got married ... still married 26 years after first meeting (15 Dec 1991)

@firefall When I think of LDR, firefall, I only think of on-line ones. Of the ones I met from EP, only one was tempting. The first. And the timing was perfect and imperfect.
