If you start dating and one has bad news, how soon should they tell the other?

I started dating someone online... she let me know pretty quickly that she has an issue... that effectively killed the relationship. When is two early to reveal the big stuff?

@Bazingaa yes, it matters what it is, like an STD should be revealed fairly soon but maybe not on the first date.
