Tinder to start testing a police checking feature for members - good thing or bad thing ?

There are some big ethical issues involved with this.
State approved relationships..

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Here is your pre-filled-out pre-nup agreement Mr Jesus so you can now offically date Ms Mary who is very contrary.

Let me see if I understand this: you sign up for Tinder, and I assume you have to pay? in that case, you provide a credit card, and that exposes your actual name, birthdate, address, etc.

Then, before someone accepts a date with you, they can click on a button, pay, and they get your criminal record for violent convictions, if it exists, without the personally identifiable information (actual name, etc)?

So, if you're cheating on your SO, the other person will only know if you've committed a violent crime, but they get your marital status, of drug-related arrests.

Seems reasonable to me.

@Northwest Tinder will still be free, but there will be some optional paid service to do a background check. I've never paid a cent to Tinder.

@zonavar68 In that case, I don't understand why this would be controversial. I am not on Tinder, or any dating apps, but I understand why someone might want to see if a total stranger has a criminal record, before they meet up.

@Northwest On a sex hookup site like Tinder everyone is potentially a predator aka criminal seeking a quick root.

It's particularly odd as all the dating sites owned by match.com all have one common them - they are ALL directly structured as sex hookup sites front-and-centre.

You have answered your own question. Do you really support this?

@Oster1 I dunno. 99.9 percent of woman profiles are fakes, so how much money do you think Tinder (and Garbo) will make and who will the main cohort 'investing' in vexacious background checks be? I bet it won't be men.

Social media is a very scientifically derived weapon against mankind. Yes, it can be a useful tool but if one is not vigilant, it can be destructive.@zonavar68
I thought the app was gonna let you know if the person you were looking at was a cop. 😆

It is a play on the extension of the human race!
