Why marry your soulmate?

@Lostpoet It's something else. In the sense that it's more. More of everything. That's why it can slowly disintegrate. Marriage shouldn't be taken that lightly. It's a commitment and not everyone suits it. As for soulmates, well, I think that I trust the concept of marriage more. I don't claim that it doesn't exist but try it out in the battering of what life throws at you. No, it's not the same.

Yes, and I’m married to her. And in just under an hour I need to take the two mini versions of her we made to school.

@BuzzedLightyear I bet she’s hot though. Everyone i know it seems like marriage always ends eventually.

@BuzzedLightyear Stop bragging, I am in for life and so far 46 years and counting
I'm still married so... but I don't think I'd do it again
OutoftheGloom · 46-50, F
Yes I definitely believe in marriage. I was married for 18 years to the most wonderfully amazing man and a brilliant dad. He was my best friend and my soft place in a hard world. I miss him every single day. I think there's someone out there for everyone. ❤

I do and I have.
FreestyleArt · 36-40, M
I don't believe in marriage since it's kind of a scam to the corporate world. I do believe in companions though.
Caleidoscope · F
I used to believe in marriage but after being married for so many years ,I don’t agree anymore in this institution.
I do believe in soulmate stuff but it’s not necessary that they’re going to be married to us.

Lostpoet · M
@Caleidoscope Shouldn’t you only marry someone that you connect with?
Caleidoscope · F
@Lostpoet Not all connections are soulmate connections.And ppl change over the years.We do too .Things that impressed us before might not do after .
Lostpoet · M
@Caleidoscope True, People change.
MellyMel22 · F
I believe it shouldn’t be with just anyone or to just be married.
Lostpoet · M
@MellyMel22 Agreed
FoxyGoddess · 51-55, F
Marriage has very little benefit anymore. I won't be doing it again.
As for soulmate, i think there are several different types of soulmates that are in your life. A soulmate is just a person you vibe with on a deeper level, which can be platonic, business, romantic, etc. Why limit it to just one? Fill your whole life with them!

I was just wondering about you.

@Lostpoet I just notice when you're not around. You matter to me.
Lostpoet · M
@BuzzedLightyear You matter to me too.
Lostpoet · M
@BuzzedLightyear I just always assume you are out there kicking ass and playing music.
eMortal · M
Yes. It's good if you don't crave variety.

Loaded question.It would take a mini novel to cover my response. Maybe I will post it somewhere someday.
I used to but I’ve reached a point in my life where finding a partner is no longer a priority. I am content with being alone for the rest of my life if that means not being betrayed and manipulated for personal gain

I don't like the "soulmate" concept. It kind of suggests that once one finds the her/him they were pre-destined for, their struggles are over. Then when things inevitably get tough (humans are messy creatures) they just go "Oh well, guess she/he wasn't my *real* soulmate after all." and continue their search the the "true" one.
