People that overweight aren't pigs or monsters, they're people. Emotionally damaged people. Likely have a big heart, maybe put too much before themselves and their own health because of not having good coping skills. It could be a lot of reasons. But they are still people and still lovable.
In saying that, I've never watched the show because I get so bored with the fat shaming.
My mom was a bigger woman. After seeing what she went through in life, I don't see obesity as gross, I see it as no different than a scar or a drinking problem or any other addict. It's just not as glamorous by societal standards.
I see people on here being friendly with and encouraging a drug addict. Like actual drugs. But if that person was addicted to food nobody would give a shit about them.

If someone has a weight problem, their minds can still function socially. So, making a TV is practical. The person talks about life, their struggles, interacts with others.
Some drug addict though - a lot of them cannot function very well mentally. Imagine trying to get them to say their lines in a show.
Sometimes on the next street over, one of the local addicts will just be walking down the street hollering and screaming at... no one. 🤨

Yeah but if you're skinny and don't have other qualities along side those other traits people may not want that person. Like if you're skinny and take care of yourself but are mean for example or toxic.
Also I know it's hard to believe but people can find each other through other means like genuine connection. Some people like bigger people and some like only skinny.
