I feel like I always talk about myself when me and my husband talk. /=

Like currently we don't have electricity so we just started talking, and I realize the reason I always am talking, either about myself or some topic I find interesting, is because he always talks about video games (and sometimes other media), whenever he is talking. I would be very interested if he talked about himself, but he never does. Aside from news, which we both discuss together, he only talks about things that are soooo uninteresting. 😩

I mean I love video games, but it's boring to hear about some experience he had inside a game I never even played lol. How do I make him talk more about himself, or just real life stuff? 🥺

A lot of men see the stuff they like as being who they are. Consider that he's telling you these things because he wants you to know them about him. Consider playing those video games he mentions the most. And even before you play the games he has if he's telling you how he felt then you can tell him a situation you were in that made you feel the same way. That might open him up to responding to a real world occasion where he felt that.

I'm not sure if it's true for him, but for me there generally just isn't that much about me to say. Especially if it's with someone I have been around for a long time. My day to day doesn't change much. And most of what I'm paying attention to are the stressful details of life. Another war kicking off, how the finances are doing, how AI is threatening my job and other such things that are just going to bring a conversation down. And even if I talk about them one day, then I won't have anything be to say until something changes or a new crisis emerges.

@ViciDraco Perhaps some people just aren't big talkers. I always knew that about him, but I wish he would sometimes think about stuff like our future together, how to decorate the house we may buy one day, what dog breed we should get next, things like that.

People talk about what they’re interested in right so I guess he’s really interested in the games.

Maybe just start asking him more about himself and let the conversation flow from there, but make it about him
Was it always like this? Makes me wonder how you got to the point of being married. 🤔

@OlderSometimesWiser Yes it was. We never really had those deep conversations some couples do, but our world views and morals align, and we used to spend much more time doing things together (like playing video games lol) than talking.

Some of us guys just like to be yapped at, and not be the yapper.
Does he talk about how hard it is to play video games with no electricity ??
Nightwings · F
@MayorOfCrushtown No he doesn't complain lol. At this time it's pretty warm so we have electricity almost all the time now. 🌼
