Why do men say such upsetting things without thinking?

My boyfriend sometimes tells me things he would say to his close buddy nd it’s something I don’t want to hear. I’m trying to get over it, but it’s so hard and I just got over an episode I was having. Maybe I should just be single for the rest of my life. 😭
