I would not go, but would explain nicely to my friend why not. A real friend should understand.
Perhaps she wants to restore your relationship. Only you know why you broke up and only you can decide if and when to try again; but doing so via someone's party is not the best way. In fact I think it would be among the worst ways.

In reading your various responses, it sounds as though you actually have decided, but your "friend" is insistently trying to change your mind.
Stick to your guns, and simply tell your friend that he/she needs to respect your decision.
Do that and then listen for what is said after.
Q: Is this "friend" a guy or a gal?

Oh, sure, I'm happy to be your glorified chauffeur. I wouldn't want her to think you're completely abandoned. I'm so selfless, haha 🤣

As long as you and the ex won't get into an argument or fight at the dance, why not go?
I wouldn't be going... I prefer distance between myself and exes
DeecemberGirl · 31-35, F

Its up to you if you can stand to see her around dancing or not..
JamesBugman · 56-60, T
What will you think when she walks in with a tall muscular fireman and they start passionately kissing on the dance floor?
I think it would be a bad idea.

@JamesBugman I don't care, as she is not my gf now.. And from what I heard, she doesn't have someone now.
I just want to avoid drama and unnecessary emotions and memories, just all

@Silemhaff Hmm, well suppose she sees you and then comes over groveling to be taken back? Her tears running and her heart breaking.

You just think what's the purpose of you going where your ex would be attending.
Do it for the plot
