When your significant other gets sick, do you still sleep in the same bed?

My wife and I do, we feel not sleeping together really isn't going to affect whether we get sick or not. By the way, she's just getting over a bad cold and yes, I woke up with it this morning. What are your thoughts?

We sleep in different bedrooms all the time but if we didn't, I'd move to another room if one of us was ill.
I don’t have a partner but yes. It’s not about the not getting sick part it’s the noise and constant moving about all night. I’m sleeping in a different room.

@Gingerbreadspice Yes, that is true. I tend to snore when I'm sick but she does put up with it. I do have to say, she is a VERY deep sleeper. When she's sick, she really isn't a problem, as far as being restless or snoring.

We used to sleep together in the same bed but my back started hurting and I started sleeping on the downstairs couch and my back and neck doesn’t hurt anymore. 👍🙂

@tfan123 I have a really nice recliner in my bedroom and I'll actually fall asleep in it once in a while, while watching TV, and will wake up, thinking I'd been asleep for an hour and will be shocked that it's morning! Some of my best sleep occurs in that chair! 🤣

I move when I'm sick. No kissing or hugging till i am not contagious. ☹️
WizardofOz · 26-30, M
@OverTheHill Yeah, we don't have much physical contact other than just laying together. The way I look at it, is we're exposed to each other's germs, whether we sleep together or not.

We usually still sleep together in our bed even when one of us is sick. There are exceptions such as when one of us has a bad cough or needs the bed at an angle that is uncomfortable for the other. One example is after my shoulder replacement, I slept in a recliner in the living room.
WizardofOz · 26-30, M
@exexec Yes! I did sleep in another bedroom once, when she was hacking up both lungs. That is annoying as all hell! She didn't like it though but she did understand.

@WizardofOz Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.
WizardofOz · 26-30, M
@exexec I remember when I was in fifth grade. lol If a kid coughed three times in class, our teacher would actually call the parents and tell them to pick their kid up, "because he's disturbing the entire class constantly coughing". 🤣

We have separate beds all the time

@meggie Same here! 👏👏👌

People spread colds before they even have symptoms. I'd only sleep separately if tossing and turning, coughing or such disturbs the person who's not sick yet.
WizardofOz · 26-30, M
@SeaGlass Yes, another opiner did mention a bad cough. That's annoying and did push me to sleep in another bedroom when she kept me up. She didn't like it at all but understood why I did.

I don't really care if I get sick, I would feel super silly avoiding him because of a cold...
WizardofOz · 26-30, M
@Blanchy Same here. Not sleeping in the same bed may decrease the chances a very, very little but your still exposed to each other's germs throughout the home.
Ducky · 31-35, F
I would, but she tells me to sleep on the couch so I don’t get sick too.
WizardofOz · 26-30, M
@Ducky Aww, that shows she cares! I thought she'd wanna put her head on your breast and sleep under the comfort of your sexy wings. lol
Of course feet to head lol

It stops nothing

We separated when Covid hit in case it killed one of us, she was tired of kicking me when I snored, and I got tired of being kicked. We still haven't returned to the same bed, and I sleep way better.
